A Game of dice
I used to play monopoly so much growing up, but I never thought of it this way—that life is also a trading game. How so? Monopoly is a real estate board game where one buys places, builds properties, and collects money from the opponent for the same. Each player moves forward by playing the dice, and the winner is the last standing man without falling into bankruptcy.
Similarly, in life, we not only trade commodities but also trade our daily essentials as commodities to the universe unconsciously. What are they? They are time, energy, and money. The idea is, what can I give? to get to where I want. We use these three similar to keeping our assets as mortgage, our bank money in loans, and the time we spend playing and making decisions in monopoly.
Moreover, just like the lady luck in life, you play your hand at the dice to get the numbers you want at monopoly. However, it isn't an easy game; the dice might not favour one often, and there are other set conditions that affect the game too. For instance, missing three turns, playing doubles with the dice, or paying 50 dollars are all ways to get out of jail in the game. You might just have to miss those three turns if you can't pay or get the specific number on the dice.
You might be capable of taking a job, taking a course, or even starting your own business, but you'll face unforeseen barriers that you didn't know existed. Making it hard for you to move ahead unless you actually play the dice. We can't control how the dice roll out, but we can control how we push through when we get a chance. How our time, energy, and space can be utilised to get to the next level we desire.
Knowing our goals helps streamline our efforts. My goal was to write more, so I spent some energy on travel, to get to a cosy place to write.
The entire universe works as a trading game where you give time to get energy or money to get time, and so on. These choices are personal preferences to each of us. There is never one right way to do so.
There are so many choices on how to make our time, energy, and money work for us. It can be effectively done only by understanding the end-goal vision and the current work we need to do to get there.
One can't keep dreaming of making pastry without buying flour. Our present inputs have to match our future dreams.
Happy dreaming and living!
